We had a really great father’s day weekend celebrating a pretty terrific dad. On Friday we had chocolate pie. On Saturday we had challah french toast for breakfast, played mini golf, had an impromptu picnic lunch, walked up to the top of the Dublin Mountains, and finished off OITNB. On Sunday Chris and Ali went swimming and we had a family lunch in sunshiney Wicklow. More on all that later, but first some not completely terrible family photos! Before we ran out for fun on Saturday, we set of the tripod and got snapping.
We’re all really lucky to have Chris in our lives. He’s English you know, so I won’t get too sappy here. He will only melt into a pool of embarrassment. But trust me when I say there’s no better partner or father to be found. He’s strong and kind and so incredibly involved in his kids’ lives. He supports me through all my ups and downs and big ideas and homesickness. He cooks and wakes up early to play with the kids so I can sleep a little bit more. He works so hard to be present, to be a good dad, to be a good friend to me. If you ask Nate he’ll say “I love daddy because he’s so silly!” He’s great. We love him and I think (I hope) he felt the full force of our love for him on his special day, despite the occasional tantrum. Look, it’s just life with toddlers. They love you unconditionally, then hate you when you can’t figure out which one of the seven identical chairs they want to sit in!
You might also notice that we are wearing some pretty rockin tshirts in these photos. As part of his father’s day gift, I stencilled up some tshirts that tell the truth. We wore them out on our Saturday adventures. I loved how they turned out (and also love that all three boys had food all over them by lunch time!) What do you think? Would you like a how-to on the shirts?
