Getting Dressed – Tennis Whites

It seemed only appropriate that I post this lovely white outfit during Wimbledon week. From what I gather based on the advertising, Wimbledon is all about white clothes and strawberries. Probably not the best combo if you’re as graceful as me! White is also not a great colour to wear around small, messy, disgusting toddlers so it’s rare you’ll see me in it.

Skirt – vintage // Top – Dorothy Perkins (similar style without the pattern) // Locket – vintage // Shoes – Dunnes

I love this skirt and am so glad to (barely) fit into it. It’s a vintage white linen full skirt with pockets and the tiniest waist band. I bought it before I was pregnant with Nate (when I was running and at my tiniest). I wore this last weekend for a kid-free afternoon of beer tasting and hanging out with friends. Worked perfectly (although after lots of beer and a meaty dinner at Bison, I really started to feel that waist band!) and felt wonderfully summery for the amazing weekend we had. There’s nothing better than navy stripes and white linen, but the design of this top makes it a bit different from my usual go-to Breton. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but there’s rucheing at the shoulders and a hidden half-placket that make it fit well and give the shirt a nice finish that you don’t always find on the high street. On my feet I have simple Dunnes Stores slip-ons that I thought were lame and totally mummsy, but apparently they are normcore or whatever. I’m so trendy. If only I had the luxury of not buying €5 shoes! And that’s how you get dressed for a day out as a grown-up! Maybe I should have played tennis too!
